Color Temple
Level Design | Blueprint Visual Scripting | Unreal Engine
This was my first game built in Unreal Engine and my introduction to Blueprint scripting. Working under a limited set of pre-built Blueprints over the course of a weekend, I designed a puzzle-based maze inspired by an RGBA material node. Each section of the level took on one of the RGBA values as its theme, with corresponding mechanics:
Red required guiding a ball through a vertical maze of elevators to reach a pedestal.
Green featured flame hazards, spike traps, and falling obstacles that had to be dodged.
Blue used hidden teleporters and a puzzle that rewarded spatial awareness.
Alpha presented a visual logic puzzle to reveal the next key’s location.
Each zone also included a central ball-and-tube mechanism where players had to direct an orb through physical geometry to activate the next stage. The project challenged me to think creatively within constraints on design time and design mechanics.
