Procedurally Animated Multiped

Animation Blueprint | Control Rig | Unreal Engine

This project showcases a fully procedural multipedal walk/run animation system capable of defying gravity and traversing floors, walls and ceilings. This was built fully in Unreal Engine 5.4 using Control Rig and Animation Blueprints. Every aspect of the spider's movement is driven by logic—from foot placement and stride timing to body and head bobbing motion—allowing the animation to adapt dynamically to terrain, speed, and direction. The entire system runs through a single node in the animation blueprint, making it lightweight and scalable across many characters. Unlike traditional animation blending, this setup requires no pre-authored walk cycles, offering full control and easy customization. I took this project a step farther by creating logic within the actor blueprint to align the character with the environment and create a custom gravity system.
